The Mid State
Regional Adult Education Network (Mid State RAEN)
provides technical assistance and
professional development to adult literacy, occupational and continuing
education programs funded by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
The Mid State RAEN is one of seven Regional Adult Education Networks funded by
the NYSED through federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Title II Section 223
funding.
The seven RAENs are part of the state system of staff development and technical
assistance to programs identified by the Adult Education and Workforce
Development (AEWD) team as needing improvement in order to meet National
Reporting System (NRS) performance benchmarks. These benchmarks measure
educational gains in adult education and/or English literacy, passing rates for
the General Educational Development (GED) Test, employment outcomes, and
post-secondary education or training.
The Mid State RAEN serves adult literacy program needs throughout Broome,
Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga,
Oswego, Tioga and Tompkins counties and also works closely with other public
service agencies (e.g., state and local Departments of Labor, local Departments
of Social Services) within the local workforce development systems to address
emerging, transitional, and incumbent workers' literacy needs.
If you have questions
about our services or would like more information on how the Mid State RAEN can
